Priority Partners cooked up another of its popular Healthy Hacks demonstrations on Sept. 30, 2023 for the Latino Health Fair, hosted by Howard County Medical Center. The free event attracted hundreds of visitors of all ages to browse the variety of local vendors and enjoy an afternoon of healthy fun.
Part of the Priority Partners Cupboards Project, the Healthy Hacks program provides free, live cooking demonstrations to show people how they can cook easy, healthy AND affordable meals. Priority Partners’ Community Health Advocates (CHAs) presented the live demonstration at the event, which took place at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center and featured Chef Giacomo Scuito of Giacomo’s Brick Oven Pizza. A Montgomery County history teacher, Chef Scuito provided an exciting demonstration, serving up a delicious “Egg Roll in a Bowl” while offering easy-to-follow techniques and tips for attendees to learn how to prepare simple, healthy meals for their families.
Following the demo, visitors received a recipe card so they could make the Egg Roll in a Bowl dish themselves at home. Attendees could also drop by the Priority Partners table to talk with CHAs and receive free lifestyle information and health resources. The celebration also included opportunities for visitors to meet with community health professionals, get flu shots and health screenings, and enjoy refreshments, raffles and more.
