What is this visit?
An eye exam checks your vision and the health of each of your eyes. Your eye doctor may have you look at letters and pictures to test your eyesight. They may also use eye drops or puffs of air to see your pupils better.
Who needs this visit?
Adults ages 18 to 64 should have an eye exam at least every two years. Adults ages 65 and older should have an eye exam every year. Adults with diabetes need a special eye exam every year. See Diabetes: Eye Exam.
