The Maryland Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting lists are now open for six Eastern Shore counties, including Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Somerset, Talbot and Worcester. Online applications are now being accepted through Feb. 28, 2023.
The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Housing Choice Voucher Program assists very low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities in securing decent, safe and affordable housing in the private market. Under the program, eligible families receive a voucher, which allows them to select eligible rental housing and pay no more than 40% of their adjusted monthly income toward rent and utilities. The first step is to get on a waiting list by submitting a preliminary application. As housing vouchers become available, those applicants who qualify and are next on the waiting lists will be contacted to complete a full eligibility application. Preliminary applications must be submitted online.
